For iPod Nano

  • First, switch off the iPod Nano by taking the “Hold” button to “Off” then return to “Hold” and lastly to “Off”.
  • Second, long press the “Menu” and middle button all together and hold for not less than 10 seconds.
  • Once the logo of Apple displays on the screen, it indicates that your iPod Nano is resetting.

For iPod Shuffle

  • First, turn off the iPod Shuffle by moving the top button to “Off” and notice that the green stripe is invisible now.
  • Then, wait around 5 seconds or more.
  • Finally, switch it on by simply moving the top button to “Shuffle” or “Play in Order” mode.
  • After which, you will once again notice the green strip and this indicate that the device has been restored.

For iPod Classic

  • iPod Classic closely resemble iPod Nano, thus resetting them is also the same. Although the iPod Classic has click wheel located at the middle, they share the same resetting steps with iPod Nano.

For iPod Touch

Resetting an iPod Touch can be done in two ways, the hard and soft reset. Here’s how.

Hard reset

  • First, switch off the device by long pressing the “Sleep/Wake” button located at the upper left corner of the device.
  • Press the “Sleep/Wake” and “Home” button simultaneously around 10 seconds.
  • Once the logo of Apple displays on the screen, it indicates that your iPod Touch will be resetting.

Soft reset

  • First, press and hold the “Menu” dial for 10 seconds.
  • After which, the screen of the device darkens.
  • Once the Apple logo displays on the screen, it indicates that your iPod Touch will be resetting.

There you have it. Restoring your iPod is far from challenging regardless of what kind you are using. However, you may have to seek professional advice if more complex problems arise.
